Todd L. Johnson is an accomplished community leader and entrepreneur residing in Duluth, MN. As Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of a diverse group of companies, Mr. Johnson has established business interests in banking, construction, real estate, and shipbuilding industries. Born into the construction business, Mr. Johnson grew & developed his company into an array of active subsidiaries held under Capstan Corporation. Capstan Corporation’s current assets include Viant Crane, LLC, Fraser Shipyards, Inc., Northern Engineering Company, Lake Assault Boats, Inc., and AtWater Group, LLC. While simultaneously growing and developing the companies within Capstan Corporation, Mr. Johnson founded Charter Films; a revolutionary film manufacturing company in Superior, WI which he sold after 14 years of successful development & growth.
Mr. Johnson’s most recent business endeavor is Concorde Ventures Corporation, an investment company which has branched into real estate, publicly traded equities, and various alternative investments in the capital markets.
Mr. Johnson has held positions on numerous boards and committees for financial institutions and community organizations. He serves as Bank Director for NATCOM Bancshares, Inc. (dba National Bank of Commerce) (First Term: 1996-2004; Second Term: 2011-present) and on various committees within the organization. Mr. Johnson serves as Director of Cretex Companies (2006-present). Mr. Johnson served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, MN (9th District) from 2005-2011 and was the Audit Committee Chair. Mr. Johnson’s many community involvements include positions on Boards of Directors for multiple local agencies and a position of Director of the Omaha Performing Arts Society. Todd L. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and many professional certificates in business leadership and management.
Founded Charter Films Industries, grew it for 14 years, sold it in 2013 to Mason Wells, in a $200 million transaction
Acquired Energy Systems Company in 1985 from Northern Natural Gas Company in Omaha and operated it for 28 years before selling it to publicly traded NRG Thermal in a $120 million transaction
Acquired controlling interest in NATCOM Bancshares in the early 2000’s, currently the largest community bank at $630 million in total assets, serving the Arrowhead region of Northern Wi & Mn.
